Secrets of Grindea Review
As the name suggests, Secrets of Grindea has a LOT to grind. Being purely luck based, the game could have you playing for hours on end without getting what you want, or simply getting it too quickly. Secrets of Grindea, if I had to explain it in the shortest way possible, I’d say this: Completionist’s Wet Dream. Why do I say that? Well, continue reading and you’ll see why.
Fighting is 90% of what you will be doing in the game. Although there are different things such as Fishing and Housing System, the game is centered around its fighting. It starts off simple, the game gives you your first weapons, a one-handed sword, a two-handed club and a shield. Now, different to the fighting system in most games, you get to use the shield for both. The Two-Handed weapons, and the One-Handed weapons contain different abilities you can learn through the game, 5 abilities for each, allowing you to polish your fighting style. In the future, you may also specialize in magic, having to choose from four different elements: Fire, Ice, Earth and Air.
The Talent System is very easy to use. One-Handed and Two-Handed get a certain amount of abilities, which you will be upgrading as you level up. So the Talent System has multiple points you can utilize, one you can use on your abilities, in a basic matter (1-5) and from there you use another point, called the Golden point (5-10) which enhances your ability. I personally felt the two-handed and one-handed played very differently.
With that being said, let’s move onto the grinding. The grinding in this game, is fantastic. Giving you multiple things to finish, farm, and complete. This is why I said, a completionist will love this game. Every zone has 5 fish which you can catch, it is very fun and fish are good for use in the future.
And last, but not least, the story in this game is pretty basic. Without getting too much into detail, you can play with your friends through it all, it adds no change, apart from the fact that you need to farm for more cards per player. I couldn’t get into the story, some very funny characters I enjoyed interacting with, some I couldn’t wait to get off my back. I laughed a lot in the dialogue, that I won’t lie about. The con of the game, for me, was the storyline. But it did not make the gameplay through the story unenjoyable, I just prefered the aspects of farming in the game.
