Swag and Sorcery Review

Swag and Sorcery is a very interesting case of having an unusual audience that will fall in love with it. Even among hardcore simulator fans, they will find elements of the games grindy/luck based systems to be very very annoying, unable to do what they want and getting frustrated with a lack of some of the typical tools that you would see in the genre such as favoriting items to see what materials you need at any one time, or easy ways to trade excess resources for others to get one particular item you need. It’s a game that has inconsistent item levels which can cause very underpowered or overpowered weapons that you craft to the point that your level 20 character could still be using a level 5 item and it be the right choice. This game isn’t a game for anyone with patience issues, and is best played with a Youtube video playing which takes most of your attention.

On the other hand though, some real customization with really unique skills means that you’re wanting to craft more and more, and the system for getting “better” items using stats on your character does really feel great when you make a super rare item. In addition, the fashion element being balanced with the combat portion does work wonders in actually caring about your characters look, and I can’t sit here and say that I didn’t enjoy my time with the game. It’s a game that I really do wish there was a custom mode to really “tweak” the game to how a player would want to play it, as that could solve a bit of the issues when it comes to reach.

For me, it’s a sale title more then anything else, and it’s one to “watch” if the problems with it get fixed, because it could then be something to you fall in love with. But, I do have to give it a tentative pass as I did have fun and enjoy my time, but it comes with all sorts of warnings.
