Barotrauma
Overcome crisis and the unrelenting pressure of a frozen ocean. In the not too distant future, where habitable places have become scarce, humanity has arrived on Jupiter’s moon. Europa with its frozen surface is a hostile environment, and life can only be found in the dark ocean beneath the ice – and the small pockets of human habitation are not the only form of life to be found there.
Play with friends in adrenaline-filled co-operative gameplay, navigate Europa’s frozen depths in single player mode and transform the game with fully integrated mod tools and Steam Workshop. Procedural levels and events ensure no two games will ever be exactly alike.

Barotrauma largely takes place inside submarines submerged beneath Europa’s ocean. At the start of each game, players are assigned a “job”, which may provide them access to specialized traits and equipment. The submarine’s crew are given a mission, which may involve hauling cargo from one outpost to another, hunting hostile undersea wildlife, or recovering alien artifacts. The players are then free to act at their own discretion for the duration of the round, with few, if any, additional objectives provided by the game itself.
Barotrauma Review
This game is a blast to play when you have a good group that can cooperate and maintain the ship while still messing around with RP shenanigans; however, this is a rare occurrence because there are so many trolls and griefers.
Your experience is very likely to be ruined if you try to play with random players because so many people will kill everyone by crashing the ship, overloading the reactor, or cutting into the hull, etc. This has led to a rise of two types of players: the griefers that destroy the game and the people who assume everyone is a troll and will kill you or ban you if you make the slightest mistake. For example, once I was banned from a server because another player put in 3 fuel rods then set the fission to max and since I was the engineer, the host assumed I did it because he didn’t speak english. Another time I ran into the reactor room to fix the overload because the engineer didn’t know what he was doing, the host checked the server logs and since I was the last one to use the reactor he assumed I started the fire. A friend staged a mutiny on a RP server and then killed the captain only to be immediately banned for “Griefing.”
It is far too easy to kill a server because you can sabotoge the ship at the press of a few buttons. It’s not fair that most people can’t enjoy this game because people are given too much freedom and control over the submarine so the devs need to make it harder to do things like this.
The hot topic problem of this game is the price. Everyone is talking about this but no one really discusses why exactly the price is a problem. Barotrauma is probably worth 30 dollars but it’s a huge mistake to have it cost close to that much at it’s current state.
