Pesterquest Review

Where do I even begin, when clearly everyone would be able to tell that I’m going to be so far up this games bulge that it’s unsightly just from looking at my icon alone.

We’ll start with the art and music. While the music isn’t anything ground breaking, its definitely a trip on nostalgia which is a welcome punch in the chest. The art on the other hand is something I’m enjoying immensely. There is some issues with Karkat’s sprite, as there’s a few corners they didn’t clean up so that the whole thing has a transparent background, but other than that, it’s top notch. I think I noticed a spelling error in Jade’s chapter as well, but I don’t recall. So mostly just small things, other than that there’s really no complaints visually.

The stories are great and it’s a blast to see where each line of dialogue is going to take you, and the humor is something that I’ve missed for such a long time. It also makes you think about the big picture while playing through the chapters which as someone who enjoyed the immense story line in Homestuck, it’s nice to let my brain run wild with everything Pesterquest has to offer me now.

I will say that this game is and always has been very much been a game that only readers of Homestuck would come to appreciate because it is completely a nostalgic game for those that know these characters. I do think those that haven’t read the comic would get a small enjoyment out of it, but you’ll be missing a lot of what is suppose to land for those that have read the series. (Which honestly they’ve given warning that it’s best to play this after reading the comic, so eyyy, if you got about the rest of your life to spend reading! I kid, but seriously it’s long…)

All in all, I’m very clearly in love with this game, and having just played Vol. 5 with my last favourites Karkat and Kanaya; Dave already got his time to shine, I can say that I’m looking forward to what this little game has to offer going forward.
