Apsulov End of Gods

Apsulov End of Gods

The humans delved far beneath the earth to find the mercy of the gods. What they found was never meant to reach the surface. Not on Midgard, nor any of the nine realms of Yggdrasil. Now their discovery wreaks havoc on their world, exploiting their technology, and leaving all in misery and decay. Through all their conquests and revelations they never stopped to consider that some things are buried for a reason.

In a world of technology and mythological artifacts, chaos rules over the human realm. It is in this chaos that you find your purpose and destiny.

In this future viking horror you awake in a sanctuary of steel and concrete, built to research and exploit the worlds of Yggdrasil, and to house an artifact, buried in the earth aeons ago.
Unveil the secrets of the mythology, the artifacts, and the realms of Yggdrasil in Apsulov: End of Gods.

Immerse yourself in this future viking horror containing:

  • A horror-filled adventure game in first person perspective
  • Norse Mythology in a sci-fi setting
  • Immersive environments with atmospheric sounds and music
  • A range of mechanics to help you deal with the environments and creatures in Midgard and other worlds.
  • Difficulty settings, Rebindable keys for keyboard/controller, 4K-support, a reduced head-bobbing-setting and lots of other things to meet your requirements.

Apsulov End of Gods Review

A superb mixture of sci fi, Norse mythology and horror.

Atmospheric, creepy, and with some well done, but not overused, jump scares, this is an excellent step forward for this studios second game. If you played ‘Unforgiving: a northern hymn’ and liked it, then this is a no-brainer for purchase. It takes everything that they did well in that game, and pushes it to another level.

I love games like Outlast, Amnesia the dark descent, SOMA, and Alien Isolation, and often find most indie games in a similar vein to be crappy. Usually because of lacklustre AI, lame sequences or scares, and rubbish production values.

‘Apsulov’ has stealth that’s simple enough to not be irritating, but still offers a pleasant challenge through enemy placements and having AI that will pursue you moderately aggressively. And unlike many games in this genre where you stay defenceless throughout, this does give you the means to attack as it progresses. Though it sensibly limits this for the most part, ensuring it doesn’t become overly easy and lose the atmosphere.

Some impressive set pieces for an indie title round off the package, and put it up there with the best of this genre. The story and setting is really well done. The graphics are great, the voice acting is decent, and it’s a glitch free product. It’s also a reasonably long game to finish for the fairly low cost.

I recommend it, and am looking forward to what they do next.
