Battle Chasers Nightwar

Battle Chasers Nightwar

Battle Chasers Nightwar is an RPG inspired by the classic console greats, featuring deep dungeon diving, turn-based combat presented in a classic JRPG format, and a rich story driven by exploration of the world.

  • Classic turn-based combat inspired by the console RPG greats, with a unique overcharge mana system and incredible Battle Bursts.
  • Beautiful, randomly-generated dungeons loaded with traps, puzzles, secrets and loot.
  • Explore an overworld peppered with hidden dungeons, rare bosses and randomly appearing friends and foes.
  • Action oriented, randomly-generated dungeons loaded with traps, puzzles and secrets. Use each hero’s unique dungeon skills to survive
  • Build your adventuring party by choosing three of six available heroes from the classic Battle Chasers comic series, each with unique abilities, perks, items and dungeon skills
  • Dive into the deep crafting system, using the unique ingredient-overloading system to create epic items!

Players explore the game’s overworld in linear fashion, fighting enemies at set instances, until they enter a dungeon, where they explore in an isometric view that has been compared to Diablo. There, they can fight enemies, and dodge traps using special abilities. During battle, the game features an “overcharge” mechanic, where using non-magical attacks generates “overcharge” that can be used in place of mana. The player can set the difficulty of dungeons before entering, and completing dungeons at higher difficulties results in receiving more experience points.

Battle Chasers Nightwar Review

Battle Chasers: Nightwar is like the old classic games but better, they took out the infamous “invisible encounters” in the overworld that normaly you see in the old classic turn-based JRPG games, and for me that is the best thing because I personally hated that.

In Battle Chasers you can clearly see the encounters and where they are, unless you are in a dungeon and an invisible/stealthed enemy see you and engages you in combat.

Characters, items, places, towns, etc are great. The game’s overworld and dungeons are fun to explore, and dungeons are randomly generated, so if you replay a dungeon (or replay the game) the dungeons will be different, so that is nice.

Combat is great (turn-based of course), there are a lot of skills for each character, and is all about tactics and combinations, the leveling system is simple, fun and easy to understand.

There is also Fishing, and finishing plays a big role in this game as you can trade fish meat for collector coins. But no worries, fishing is really simplistic and fun, not that is wrong, is better simple than something complicated that becomes a burden.

I heard people saying that there is a lot of grinding, and believe me, is not true, the grinding is there, but is minimal, if you depend of grinding, maybe you need to change your tactics asap.

Graphics are nice, there are some low res textures here and there depending of the camera zoom but still the graphics are nice.

The music of the game is also great, a lot of songs reminds me of Darksiders I and II. And of course there are a lot of easter eggs in the game, really a lot, if you played and if you are a fan of the Darksiders games, then you will understand what I mean 😉 I don’t want to spoil anything here.

I really recommend this game to anyone, unless you hate turn-based comba, is a great game, of course is not flawless, there are some bugs and issues, but they aren’t many. Game is 100% playable.
