As far as what kind of game this actually is, well, it’s a third-person 3D brawler game with some RPG elements. It is not “an RPG,” though. Ignore all the other reviews comparing this game to Dark Souls. They didn’t play it much.
This game has a lot more in common with Ninja Gaiden, Onimusha, and God of War than anything in the Souls vein.
Also like Ninja Gaiden, it is so hard your friends will die.
As far as the translation goes, the functional parts of the game, such as the stats and tutorial instructions, are translated well enough, but the story parts of the game are not translated very well at all. Sometimes they’re just completely untranslated. There’s still a lot of raw Chinese text in the game. It doesn’t really impede your ability to play, but you’re not gonna get much out of the story unless you read Chinese.
Expect extremely heavy amounts of jank. Case in point: to play as a girl, you equip an accessory that turns you into a girl. Yeah. Weirdly, she’s actually voiced, so you’re not hearing the dude grunting while playing as the girl. The whole game is like that, though.
Honestly, if the gameplay weren’t as good as it is, this would be a hard “no”. However, it does play very well. Again, the comparison is to Ninja Gaiden, Onimusha, Darksiders, (classic) God of War, even Devil May Cry. Make sure to unlock the special abilities for your weapon and make use of your Bloody Spells or you will never get anywhere.
