Cat Quest
Cat Quest Review
I can only heartily recommend this game to everyone that is looking for some good time. Almost every dialogue has some cat pun in it, and despite that it manages not to get corney or trite. The story is okay… and for an Indi game its most certainly amazing.
The charming graphics and the colorful pallet of this game also nicely underline the jolly good feeling. Combat wise, the Screenshots on steam were a bit misleading, as most of the combat happens in the overworld and the the dungeons almost do the game a disservice. I sort of was expecting to find an item with which you find the secret passage ways, given how abundant they were, and how much the game expects you to find them.
Each Dungeon will remind you if you have cleared it, and even if you haven’t cleared it, if there are big chest you have been missing.
The Combat itself is rather simple, and I get a strong Secret of Mana or Landstalker, without the jumping, Vibe from it. You run around, you swing your sword, you dodge roll away from telegraphed attacks and you spice it up with up to 4 spells you can put into your loadout.
Admittedly I ended up playing the game with a controller, just because it was more laidback this way.
I can only suggest to give the Demo a try. If you like the good old way RPGs used to be… give this a go. Its quite fun. With the current price of 13bucks, without sale, I find it a bit steep. I think 10 bucks is a fair price for this game, so maybe you want to wait for another sale, but even at the asking price, I would recommend the game. But do try the demo first. Your progress carries over, and you will find out rather quickly if you like the game.
