Crossroads Inn
Crossroads Inn is a real-time management sim with role-playing games elements. The game consists of two unique modes offering totally different experiences.
In Sandbox mode gamers will focus solely on managing their business and economy – to build their very own tavern, hire and oversee staff, manage the supply chains and create new dish recipes. In Campaign mode, micromanagement is just a prelude to a rich story as the kingdom is in turmoil and a shift of power is expected. Your Inn will soon attract the attention of important political and military figures, who are desperately trying to hold on to the reins of power. Gamers will become part of a large-scale drama full of political intrigues, vivid characters, treacherous NPC’s and dangerous quests inspired by RPG games – You will even have a damsel in distress to save!

Crossroads Inn Review
The game did a closed beta, then a full launch. The devs have admitted this was a mistake on their part, and apologized. Launches are renowned for being bug riddled and rough, and this has been no exception. The devs are being extremely responsive, involved, and working their butts off to get us fixes for the serious bugs.
The Good: Devs that are actively involved, responsive, and care. They’re not getting a cash grab and running off to another project right away. Devs that communicate, actively. An already released road map for what they’re planning for the game for the next year. Frequent patches trying to fix the major issues.
The Bad: Yes, it’s buggy right now. I can’t review what the game is like later in the game, because bugs end up breaking it for me. However, this is reasonable and fairly expected. It just launched out of a closed beta.
Most the negative reviews are the types of people that want a perfect game at launch and aren’t willing to wait a few days or a week for the devs to collect up all the major bugs and get them fixed. I, personally, have an ounce of patience and empathy, so I’m just actually -helping- the game by reporting the bugs and communicating back and forth with the devs so they can get the feedback they need to fix them, rather than just ragequitting. The devs have been literally sleeping at the office for almost two weeks now, so I personally think they deserve a little support themselves.
The game at its heart is a sim. There’s some building, trait and workers management similar to The Sims. Some RPG style elements to campaign mode. But mostly there’s an economy based sim to manage. You design your inn, expand it, manage your workers and resources, and eventually will get adventurers to send out into the world. There’s a story you’re following in campaign mode, which as far as I’ve gotten seems interesting. The medieval theme basically makes it all just… work, and fun. You have elements from D&D style roles and characters that intuitively make sense. There are a lot of nuances to learn about to try to make different classes of patrons happy. It is a good little game that you can drop a lot of time into, just have a little patience with it the next couple of weeks!
