Everreach Project Eden Review
Ede Tarsoly coded this entire game by himself, over a three year period; and Elder Games is an indie game development studio of just five other people. When you take into account these facts, the game play issues at launch are understandable and forgivable. Everreach: Project Eden was a work of passion for Ede for the past three years. I ask, which one of us have the same skill, time and passion to make such a game, in the same amount of time, and better? I certainly could not. And for this reason, I thank you Ede for giving us Everreach to play.
Everreach: Project Eden is the game I’ve wanted to play desperately since Bioware’s Mass Effect series 1 through 3. Right from the beginning title screen, it made me smile. The music was excellent throughout. The hover bike took some getting used to, but by the second mission, I was enjoying the hang loose “Halo Warthog” feel of it. Excellent character skill upgrade web, 80+ choices that really let you build Nora your way. Definite replayability because of this. I appreciate that Michelle Clough wrote the story line, which was obvious from the detailed Codex files, very Mass Effect like. Come to think of it, you know…. the text in the menu’s felt very familiar to Mass Effect 😀 I appreciate that this game is inclusive LGBT relationships, various cultural characters, and you choose the lead character to be a female protagonist. Thank you for not making Nora overtly sexual, and at the same time, showing that a lead RPG protagonist has human feelings, thoughts and can be vulnerable. I also enjoyed the puzzle various puzzle crates.
I want to end by thanking you Ede for making Everreach. It’s the closest game to Mass Effect anyone’s made since ME 1 through 3, and it shows how fun a story-driven action RPG can be. Bioware isn’t making more Mass Effects, and so I’m glad you made Everreach. You have my respect, and I’ll be following your studio for future releases. Congratulations on your hard work.
