Jamestown+ Review
Jamestown is an underrated gem. The graphics are beautifully Metal-Slug-esque, the music is an epic orchestral masterpiece, and the gameplay is finely tuned with a solid scoring/leaderboard system in place.
As a shmup, the thing I love about Jamestown is that it’s very fair and accessible compared to the average bullet hell shmup. It eases you right into the genre in many ways (easier difficulty options, single-level play, etc), but there are gauntlet and super gauntlet modes which give bullet hell fans that limited-credit adrenaline rush (especially on higher difficulties). Coop is also tuned in such a way that it allows higher skill players to carry a lower skill players, so you can play this with your kids, etc.
This remastered edition ships (heh) with more ships, levels, modernized menus, leaderboards, remastered music, etc., and there’s something here for players of all skill levels. Definitely check it out!
