Kingdom Under Fire 2

Kingdom Under Fire 2

It’s an MMO

Gain levels, earn experience: Choose one of five unique heroes, master thrilling missions as you unravel an unforgettable story, craft epic gear and train up a powerful army.

It’s an RTS

Master tactics, win victories: Your elite units stand behind you like a wall of steel, baying for the blood of your enemies. Take direct control of a colossal war machine and dominate Bersia’s battlefields in epic encounters!

The plot of Kingdom Under Fire II comes chronologically after the events in Circle of Doom – which took place within the alternative dimension of the game’s antagonist – Encablossa. The game’s events continue the story of the Kingdom Under Fire universe, 150 years after Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders, and introduce a new faction – the ‘Encablossians’, who have been brought from the Encablossan dimension by Regnier, an antagonist in previous games. The game is to explore the wars between three factions: the Human Alliance, Dark Legion, and Encablossians in their struggle for control of the game’s world, the continent of Bersia.

The game combines action RPG with real-time strategy. The player is to control a hero who can command various troops. The player has full control of their character and can run around freely with their troops following them. When controlling other units, the game plays like a typical RTS; cannons for example can be used to break down castle walls and spearmen can be used to protect troops from cavalry.

Playable Classes

The Gunslinger

The Gunslinger effortlessly switches between sword and pistols, utilising an array of combos to attack individual targets and unleash area of effect attacks.

The Spellsword

The Spellsword combines her magical runes to produce ever new attacks and healing spells, compensating for her relatively shallow health pool with agility, sword and sceptre.

The Berserker

The Berserker stands out in the carnage of battle for his brute force and staying power – an ultimate front-line warrior capable of smashing enemy ranks with obliterating attacks.

The Ranger

Swift and adept in both ranged and melee combat, the Ranger exhibits a fascinating array of skills with daggers, rapidly switching to her bow where necessary.

The Elementalist

The Elementalist is a skilled and versatile mage, capable of channelling the power of the elements in both attack and defence. She can use her spells to summon companions to fight by her side.

Kingdom Under Fire 2 Review

Have played for 9 hours so far and am thoroughly enjoying it, its unit commanding system is a more fleshed out version of the older games being akin to mount and blade meets tiger knight meets conqueror’s blade. The hero combat is akin to dynasty warriors and the open world is akin to most 2010 styled MMOs.

The combat does seem clunky sometimes and is more akin to the older dynasty warriors. The games graphical fidelity isn’t something to write home about and the game uses up a LOT of the CPU for obvious reasons but overall the game runs extremely well with very few hiccups in terms of performance, a few drops in framerate here and there but nothing too noticeable.

I’d say if you enjoy any of the aforementioned games you would more than likely enjoy this game, it has a lot to offer and assuming the support by the developers continues it’ll quickly shine. My only caution is that it’s gameforge (TERA and AION in the past) which also means there’s a lot of cash shop stuff BUT to their credit it is strictly cosmetics and consumables that quicken your leveling. The character customization isn’t something super fantastic but it’s adequate enough.
