The Viking High King is murdered and his REGAL HORN is stolen by a man named HAGEN. This event kickstarts a saga that will take RIG, his son and heir accompanied by his right-hand man BRAND through the new continent of NORTHGARD, where he will make new friends and foes and discover a much greater threat than HAGEN, and the reasons behind his father’s assassination. In order to complete the 11 chapters campaign, the player will have to master the specificities of all 6 clans and tame the unforgiving wilderness of Northgard.

That being said, what is Northgard actually? Well, it’s basically a RTS game with a slight resource management system.
It also features a random/set event and day & night cycle which at times will keep the player on their toes in case such an event would trigger (i don’t like to spoil too much as always, but i can say that at times it will affect your economy and at other times it will affect your population or even both in worst case scenarios like blizzards, earthquakes etc..) but not to worry, usually by the time that happens you’ll likely know what to do about it.. (it’s not actual rocket science) <<<-or is it???
You’ll start of playing as a single Clan from the Northern kingdoms when you launch the campaign and it will take you accross the map allowing you to meet and fight with other clans in the hope to unite all the clans under one banner.
Not all battles need to be fought with bloodshed alone here, because at times you’ll need to use diplomacy and at other times you need to reach certain goals faster with your resource management options/skills or by outskilling your opponent in total.
You’ll also encounter various native and mythological creatures and roving clans that at some times will be joining your clan after you’ve done some tasks for them in order to gain their favour.
One requirement that will always be vital is keeping your clan supplied with food, wood, minerals and additionally favour/crowns & morale/happiness (the more population you have, the more needy they will become, so keep an eye on your Clan’s consumption at all times).. Without these 5* essential resources your clan/empire will crumble and fall.
So needless to say that this game isn’t a walk in the park (it’s not too hard either really), but when you know how things work the rewards will be truly great and so much fun to achieve.
There’s also a Skirmish and Multiplayer mode to choose from which work equally great, unlike for some other well known RTS games that i’ve been playing up till this very day..
What i actually love most about Northgard is the fact that the developers have done a really great job adding more free features and content to the game and furthermore you can also support them by purchasing their latest dlc at a fair price too. (games still cost money to make guys)
The base game doesn’t cost all that much impo so paying a few extra bucks for a dlc which adds a new clan etc seems to me at least a pretty nice deal (which i already did and fully approve).
There’s still more to add here but then i’d possibly be spoiling it for you guys so, give this game a go is all i can say really.
