The Adventure Pals is an action-packed platformer about friendship, exploration, and riding your giraffe. And, of course, the age-old tale of an evil madman with the nefarious plan of turning old people into delicious hot dogs.
Mr. B is kidnapping old people and turning them into hot dogs! It’s up to you and your best buds, Mr. Rock and Sparkles the Giraffe, to save the day. Leap, slash, and blast your way through increasingly madcap levels. Along the way you’ll help a whale regain confidence, take a side in the battle between toast and dinosaurs, and travel to a legendary sunken city to decide the result of a Pirate election.
Inspired by classic platformers and cartoons alike, The Adventure Pals is a mixture of lovingly handcrafted platformer levels, combat focused arenas, and unique locations with townsfolk who provide quests, items, and other goodies to aid you on your journey. Just like your favorite peanut butter and jelly sandwich, The Adventure Pals is both nutty and sweet, with perhaps just a little crunch.

The Adventure Pals Review
A hack-and-slash platformer that starts off simply but steadily graduates you to more complicated platforming requirements. Unfortunately, the actual combat never becomes much more than button mashing with an awkward dodge/counter mechanic unlocked with further levels.
You can carry a limited number of healing items and bombs, and along the way can discover temporary damage modifications like lightning chains, fire and poison dps, and a swarm of vicious turtles. Boss fights rarely give bombs much use as the bosses tend to ignore their damage, while bombs can instantly and dramatically turn the tide of several combat arenas where the melee can be tedious at early levels as damage-sponge enemies overwhelm you with numbers and projectiles.
Once your sidekick upgrades are unlocked, though, the game hits its actual stride: precision platform timing broken up with blitzkreig arena fights that require constant maneuvering and button-mashing. At this point, the combat actually becomes fun, and boss fights are challenging and frantic but rewarding in their responsiveness.
All of this is held together with an amusing core narrative and whimsical (corny word, but the best I can think of) surrealist world and cast of characters. All around an excellent game.
