Totally Accurate Battle Simulator

Totally Accurate Battle Simulator

Totally Accurate Battle Simulator is a wacky physics-based tactics game. Experience accurate warfare through the ages, TABS uses state of the art physics-based simulation to provide you with never-before-seen insight to our greatest battles of history.

The player is presented with a range of opposing soldiers of various unit types, and the player in turn must place their own units on an opposite side of the field. After the player hits “start”, the two sides will then rush forward and begin to attack each other, and the player can pan the camera around the map and spectate the match. The match ends when one side has killed all of the opposing soldiers. The public alpha contains a short 20 level campaign, with a variety of maps with different opposing enemy armies. Each level has a set price limit, but the player can purchase any amount troops they like as long as they do not go over the limit. Totally Accurate Battle Simulator also has a sandbox mode, which contains no price limits.

Totally Accurate Battle Simulator (TABS for short) is a PC game currently in Early Access by Landfall Games. The player places units down on the battlefield, which is currently a floating island showing your units, terrain, and enemy formations. Once the player has created their army with the somewhat misinterpreted historical units (or not historical at all), then they can start their battle against the enemy force. Upon the start of the battle, each unit will launch their own attacks. In these battles, each unit is programmed with its own unique weapons, behaviors and mechanics. The looks of the units and behavior can best be described as derpy and the battles are chaotic and hilarious.

Totally Accurate Battle Simulator Review

This game is def. worth it’s current value. Admittedly the sandbox gets boring after not a lot of time, however, the campaign alone is worth the value. It throws dozens and dozens of premade level setups at you that you have to figure out how to defeat using your own unit comp ideas.

The ragdoll physics are great, the death animations are awesome and fun. Nothing beats seeing a spear or ballista bolt scewer the enemy in the head. The units do sometimes get stuck on terrain features though, which kinda blows, but this is something they can fix down the road.

There is about 3 hours worth of content alone in just the campaign. That isn’t an incredible amount, however it’s still early on and they are adding more levels, and the price of the game is super low anyway that it’s def worth the price point.

There are tons of factions and unit types, the balance is really well done. There isnt a single thing thats overpowered, or totally useless garbage. Many levels require you to use many different unit types and get creative with army compisitions. And some units that may be able to destroy some levels, will get completely crushed in others.

Once the battles start, there isnt too much control other than slow motion. You cannot tell models to hold position, or to target specific enemies. However the slow motion really makes it eye-gasmic and thoroughly enjoyable to watch.

All in all for the price, it’s def. worth it.
