Transport Fever 2 Review

I played TF 1 for over 1200 hours so it is fairly safe to say that I was a fan.

TF2 seems to offer some great improvements, especially in the game mechanics. TF 1 if you played on Hard it was a grind, you could make money but you had to be really careful with every line. Some lines were always losers like internal bus routes and there was a lot of guesswork on where the demand was for. Boats and Planes were generally unworkable/unbalanced.

In TF2 so far it looks like it is much more balanced, I’m playing on hard and internal routes are profitable, and boats seem viable.
I was initially concerned that reducing to only 2 products per town would simplify the game but it has actually made it much more complex and challenging. The lack of easy routes is causing much more thought.
The redesign of the industries has made the workflow much more challenging and interesting too. The cargo chains have been structured to make it harder to get bi-directional train routes which again is an improvement in challenge. So some major steps forward in game play.

Disappointing misses – there is no change in cargo mechanics, we are rewarded for longer lines, there is no differentiation in cargo. I would have liked to see some cargo being worth more than others or the price reducing the longer the time to delivery. Similarly I’d like to have seen demand information on passengers to see which were looking for fast routes and which are looking for cheap routes.
