War Selection Review
Very interesting game. I’ve read about the wonder mechanic, and can see how that will be annoying. But other than that this game is like a better Age of Empires. You go through all the ages, from stone age to modern times, with nice unit variety in it, but instead of choosing your country before the match like in AoE, you choose as you go on, with you choosing certain geographic regions to base your civilization from and then getting progressively more specific as you upgrade. This game will turn out to be very detailed and very deep and with an insane amount of strategy options available. As of this writing it is in early access, with the specific countries still being in development. But seriously, if you liked AoE, this is like the AoE4 we needed.
I’m very interested in seeing how this will turn out. I’ll definitely play it more when it is more complete. It’s currently free, which for a game this ambitious is extremely generous on the part of the developer. I think there should be some kind of payment option, as this game deserves to be supported. I read that they disabled a subscription fee, which is not a way you should monetize a strategy game anyway, but having a regular set price for the game would be more than fine.
The game runs very well on my rig with high fps and no crashes. Smooth and responsive gameplay, with the only issue maybe being some pathfinding, but that can be worked out. And it’s not even a gig! How cool is that?
This game has huge potential, and is worth your time.
