ArcheAge Unchained Review
Archeage: Unchained is an open world PvP sandbox MMORPG with 2 faction warfare & a pirate system that lets players abandon their faction in favor of a FFA playstyle. The game has tons of different content from questing, crafting, trading, faction warfare, dungeons, raids, to a housing & farming system that lets you claim/buy/sell open land in the actual game world similar to the classic MMO, Ultima Online.
The game is extremely PvP focused, & you can & will be attacked anywhere that doesn’t have guards. Possibly even from your own faction members if they decide to commit assault or murder, which leads me to the crime system… The game has a crime system in place that lets players so thing like steal, assault, & even murder members of the same faction. Players can then report these crimes & on their next death the offending player will be sent to court with a jury of actual players who get to decide if they will be put in jail for their crimes, & for how long.
With the removal of p2w & a 1 time buy-to-play fee of only $26, ArcheAge could easily be a top contender in the MMO genre. It’s not without it’s faults however.
If you are still on the fence though & don’t want to spend the money until you’re sure, go check out the Free to Play version & try before you buy. Your progress will not carry over to unchained, but the game mechanics are mostly the same, just with p2w in the free version. So you should be able to get a fairly good idea what you’re getting into from that.
