Japan’s adored Doraemon franchise comes to Steam in Story of Seasons, a beloved farming simulation series lasting over 20 years.
The setting is Natura, and at the center of this land is the mystical Big Tree. Doraemon and friends will each take on a role to help out around town!
The theme of this experience is creating bonds with the town residents, and while doing so, enjoying the heart-warming interactions through each character and the part they play in the story.
But building a farm and raising horses and cattle like in other Story of Seasons games isn’t the only thing to do. Explore the town of Natura, go on adventures, catch bugs and much much more! Fans of the Doraemon series will also be happy to know that Doraemon’s gadgets can be used to assist you in your new, everyday life!

The game combines the farming simulation elements from the Story of Seasons series and the familiar characters and secret gadgets from the Doraemon series. The player will play as Nobita and participate in farming activities such as plowing the fields to grow crops, taking care of cattle and sheep, and more. The game also has a fishing system, a house decoration system, an insects capture-and-collect system, holidays and festivals similar to the Story of Seasons games.
Characters from the Doraemon series such as Giant and Shizuka also show up as supporting characters and will assist Nobita in his adventures. By advancing the story, Nobita can unlock usable Doraemon gadgets that grant special abilities such as Weather Cards which can change tomorrow’s weather and the Anywhere Door which allows Nobita to fast-travel between areas.
Doraemon Story of Seasons Review
The game is basically that, everything you loved about Harvest Moon is in here, combined with everyone’s favorite Doraemon and friends. You don’t need to know anything about Doraemon to enjoy this, but if you do, it’ll vastly improve your enjoyment as you will feel at home with the story and the characters. The game perfectly blends the Harvest Moon gameplay with Doraemon franchise, which can be seen in the story development and Doraemon’s gadget to make your farm life easier.
The visuals are so beautiful with hand-drawn backgrounds and cute characters and animals, and the game is only 700mb in size! Regarding the PC port, it’s pretty tame in term of requirements. Everyone with a modest PC should be able to run it full speed at 4K. The game also has native Dualshock 4 support which is a nice bonus for me. That said, the PC configs are pretty bare bones with only a few settings to tweak. And the resolution options are pretty limited and weird (no 1440p, but there are 4:3 options).
More on the negative side, the English language version alters the characters’ name with “Disney” version. For example, Nobita becomes Noby, Shizuka is Sue, etc. There’s voice acting, but very limited to short catchphrases and grunts and groans. Furthermore, the amount of content and system complexity in this game is still not on par if compared with the previous Story of Seasons games. There are fewer crop variety, fewer events, fewer townsfolks, fewer farm/tool customization, etc. That said, if you haven’t played the newest entries in the series, Doraemon Story of Seasons has quite a lot of improvements and additions from the PS1/PS2 era Harvest Moon games.
Overall, Doraemon: Story of Seasons is a super charming farming simulator and you owe it to yourself to play this game if you’re a fan of Harvest Moon and/or Doraemon.
