Dragon Quest Heroes 2 is a hack-and-slash, field-roaming Action RPG that sends players on a new adventure to restore order to a once peaceful world filled with hordes of monsters and battles of epic proportions. Up to 4 players can band together in cooperative multiplayer to conquer swarms of enemies and defeat challenging boss monsters. There is also a cast of many playable characters each with unique moves and abilities – including a host of familiar faces from the DRAGON QUEST series and four brand new heroes that must team up to defeat an unknown threat looming over the Seven Realms!

Dragon Quest Heroes II mixes the hack-and-slash combat of Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors series of video games with the characters, monsters, universe, and lore from Square Enix’s Dragon Quest series. The game is heavier on the RPG elements than most of Omega Force’s other titles. World exploration was changed to resemble the typical Dragon Quest experience. Players can move their party to visit towns, wander the world map and initiate battle stages (similar to dungeons). Seamless random monster encounters may break up the pace between locations. Special ingredients and treasure boxes can be discovered across the world map. Weather can fluctuate and affect the party’s status. Rainy days inflicts a curse ailment on the party during battle.
Dragon Quest Heroes 2 Review
Dragon Quest Heroes 2 is one thing above all else: fun. It’s clear that when the devs set out to make this game, that was their full intention; as well as keeping with the thematic, and aesthetic touches that the Dragon Quest series is known and popularized for.
This game avoids becoming just another “Warriors-esque masher” by implementing charm, beautiful opimization, well implemented and executed graphics, series loyalty, and an empathetic and well scaled difficulty system. It’s a joy to play – it posesses both a well directed and nicely nuanced story (one with a twist or two for those who seek it) and characters that far more than simply amorphous blobs of j-art – they possess all the character, spunk and vividness of an actual, dedicated character.
The graphics in this game are amazing. This is exactly what you should ask for when you want a anime esque series to come to life on your screen. It perfectly scales what are classical 2D characters from DQ and sticks them in a vivid, rich and storybook type world. It does this while not taxing either your GPU or CPU – people claim there is all sort of things that affect performance jam-packed into this client – but I didn’t feel it. My GPU and CPU were never over 50%. If you experience issues, run a 10 hour youtube video behind the windowed client on your screen, and it can help keep frames consistent.
Sound is impeccable. Classic DQ themes? Got that. Fitting music that never gets boring or tiring? Got that. Immersive boss music that gives a sense of levity while deftly juxtaposing desperation? Got that. This music displays an innocence and a classical touch that really suits the game and does exceptionally well.
Ultimately, this game is a “Warriors” type slasher with a great deal of charm and zest. It takes that formula and owns it, implementing it right into a very beautifully built world. Just like Warriors games you can collect a cavalcade of weapons, from war fans to punchy fists~, abacus to greatsword. A great touch is that you can switch your main character to a plethora of classes, really helping the high paced action. You can easily switch between charas to get yourself into the action as another if the main characters skills don’t quite scratch your respective itch.
