Hitman Go
Hitman GO is a simple to play, but difficult to master turn-based strategy game set in a stunning interpretation of the Hitman universe. You will strategically navigate fixed spaces on a grid to avoid enemies and take out your target or infiltrate well-guarded locations. This award-winning, beautifully rendered diorama-style turn-based strategy game focuses on forward thinking to progress through challenging levels and stylish freeze frame environments, to challenge even the most accomplished Hitman fan.
The player guides Agent 47, protagonist of the Hitman franchise, through a series of grid-based levels. Levels are composed of nodes and lines, and presented like a board game with characters modelled as miniature figures. Enemy characters can be dispatched by moving onto the node they occupy during a turn, similar to chess. As the player advances through levels, new enemy types and mechanics are introduced to increase the complexity of puzzle solutions.
With Hitman GO, you’ll experience:
- Challenging puzzles that put your assassination skills to the test
- Beautiful scale model-style visuals
- Environments with secret passageways and off-limit areas
- Agent 47’s tools of the trade: Distractions, disguises, hiding spots, sniper rifles and even the iconic Silverballers
- Different enemy types with unique and deadly behaviours
- Different ways of completing each level, silently or forcefully
Hitman Go Review
Whilst the turn-based genre is nothing new, it’s difficult finding a good one that isn’t overly saturated with the latest in 3D tech or trying to take the turn-based genre to the next level. What you want is something fun like Advance Wars (2001) which is a game that was way ahead of its time.
This is a fantastic game. I found it very addictive. This game consists of short little puzzles challenging you to get Agent 47 through levels filled with guards, briefcases to collect, and targets to “kill”. The game plays out like a board game with chess-like pieces. New pieces (both enemy and support for Agent 47) and new mechanics are slowly introduced over the game’s missions.
This is probably the first mobile game I’ve really played. I do have a smart phone and a tablet, but I have virtually never use those for gaming. I was reluctant to try this game out because of it’s mobile roots, but watching a Twitch stream changed my mind. It seemed like a lot of fun. I was not disappointed. I’m glad it came to PC.
The game is played with the mouse only, swiping Agent 47 to the direction you want him to go. I would definitely have appreciated a single click option. There’s no keyboard support but I don’t think that’s a big deal for a game like this.
I do think it’s unfortunate that a level editor of some sort wasn’t created for this release (as suggested by other reviewers). It would have been pretty awesome if the community could have built more levels. The game is a bit short. It took me about 6 hrs to complete (totally worth the $6 and some change I paid). I was good enough that I want more.
