As you play through the campaign, you will unlock a variety of weapons each with their own behavior to fit your playstyle. Earn medals for completing challenges, find secrets, and wreak vengeance.
RED HOT VENGEANCE features 30 challenge missions. Each challenge is designed to offer a different experience from the campaign, with more experimental level design and objectives. Try to kill all the enemies with only a baseball bat, or survive an onslaught of police until the time runs out. Play the first couple of levels of the campaign to unlock challenges.
RED HOT VENGEANCE features a user-friendly map editor built into the game. Utilizing Steam Workshop, you can create levels and upload them for everyone to play. While the editor doesn’t place any arbitrary restrictions on the user, there are guidelines to making a good, functional level. See the guides section of the community hub for a comprehensive guide on making levels.
Red Hot Vengeance Review
A very fun twin-stick shooter with a decent challenge. Has a very straightforward, barebones story (and that’s not a bad thing). There’s a series of challenge levels that you can play that have a bunch of mechanics that shake up standard gameplay with some of them being absurdly difficult, but not impossible. There’s a decent array of unlockable weapons that allow for numerous combinations for loadouts.
Minimalist design may not appeal to everyone, but the mechanics are quite solid enough to warrant a quick try. After all, it’s free. What have you got to lose?
This game isn’t perfect. That said, the lock-on mechanic is very finicky and can lead to frustrating moments. While it does function as it should, scrolling through potential targets is very random and can lead to unintentional targeting of an enemy that’s not even in line of sight. Shotguns also feel really inconsistent. the spread is narrow which allows for one-shot potential up close, however if you free aim, you’ll often find that you miss a good portion of the spread, which can end up needing two or three shots for a kill. The M4 carbine also feels very weak. While it does boast higher damage (with 3 shot kill potential), the 20 round magazine and constant need to reload has steered me away from this thing. Doorways appear to be deceptively large. Often resulting in missing the actual door and getting stuck trying to adjust your way through it.
Overall a mechanically sound game with a good level of difficulty. Best of all, it’s totally free. Absolutely worth spending at least a couple of hours on.
