Sea Salt
Sea Salt is an action strategy hybrid, in which you are an Old God summoning unfathomable horrors to blight the human lands. You will have your sacrifice, and humanity will pay for denying you what you are owed. Summoning a tide of minions, your army will emerge from the sea to take vengeance on the religious figures who have dared to defy you, and anyone else that stands in your way.
When humanity prayed you were willing to offer them fair winds for their fishing vessels, and they enjoyed the riches and prosperity you provided. They knew the price, but cowardice overtook their faith when the time came to collect. The bishop of your church defied your will, but when the horrors of the deep emerge from the gloom he will beg for the mercy of a swift death.
- Command an unruly troop of nightmarish creatures, cultists and horrors from the deep
- Control the whole swarm at once, directing it to attack your victims or withdraw to avoid their defenses
- Use the terrain to surprise and surround the weak minded to make them lose their minds to fear
- Discover cards in a hellish tarot to unlock 16 different units with their own strengths and weaknesses
- Hunters, and special bosses alike, will be swept away on your path to vengeance
Sea Salt Review
Sea Salt is a good game but there are a few caveat’s. Firstly what you see is what you get for better or for worse, its literally just a horde game where you swarm your enemy but it does have a little more to it and isn’t a complete pushover as some might say. There are multiple hunters/enemies with different strategies having to be used to take them out, as well as the later half of the bosses putting up a good fight.
Secondly i find the horde AI to be iffy at times, id say 80% of the time is works well but that 20% where is does not is really frustrating as they can get caught in some corners or other areas of the map. I really hope they tune it a bit more in future updates as its not fun having half your horde being wiped at because they decided to split and go to another side of the wall as a example or get caught somewhere in the later levels. Also the final boss as he has a lot of annoying wave clear moves highlights this problem the most if your horde happens to path to the wrong area or get stuck like before mentioned.
In conclusion though i had a good time and other than those two negatives (and even then the first point i made isn’t even a negative definitively) it was fine. This game has great visuals/detail in the levels, its cool to find new units and make your own playstyle or fit what you need for the specific level, the gore/blood you have when killing a bunch of villagers or other enemies gave me satisfaction. I return to my first point, what you see is what you get and i am satisfied with my purchase, if your looking for more mechanics or “more” to the game then this might not be for you, but if all you wanted is to swarm your enemies and consume everything then give this a shot.
Also another cool thing about this game is the “paths” you can take when you finish a level, it seems like you can replay this game at least once in terms of experiencing new levels/content and if your up for the challenge there is also arena and a hard-mode if you thought the game is too easy first time around, so expect around 10 hours or so of gameplay minimum if you choose to do those things, perhaps a lot more if you die a lot during the hardmode and such.
