eFootball Pro Evolution Soccer 2020 Review
For the last decade I’ve been playing both FIFA and PES. I used to like FIFA more, but since last year that has changed.
My favorite thing about last year’s game were the animations, they just made the game more fun to watch and more realistic with the combination of the improved physics. This year they added a new camera (Stadium), which if you know how to tweak a little, it will look just like a real match on the TV. They also added a few animations – like when the players are making contact, and when the defenders clear the ball.
The AI has some issues that need to be fixed – They lose track of the ball sometimes, and when they have the ball in attacks, if someone is close to them, they don’t run. Also, the goalkeepers don’t come out in 1v1s, like last year. The sound design and the turf also need some improvements. The referees remain the same – You can slaughter someone, and they will only give you a yellow card.
I’m glad that KONAMI listened to our feedback and they’re improving Master League and the menus. It’s not much, but it’s a good start. I also like the game’s speed this time. It feels a bit faster, which I like.
It is a game better in all areas than its predecessors, but with a frustrating stagnation in its weaknesses, something we are less and less forgiving year after year. For those who don’t mind the above, focusing on the pitch and some good company, the choice of eFootball PES 2020 is like watching a Premier League derby: Obvious.
